During the latest episode of “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, Angle was asked to address all the recent rumors of him returning to WWE for a potential run, being involved in the RK-Bro and Alpha Academy storyline and being a special guest referee at the Elimination Chamber. Angle was originally scheduled to be involved in the Chamber show in a non-wrestling role and he previously stated on his podcast that there were plans for him to return to WWE TV for a few weeks but those plans were scrapped.

On his podcast, Angle said that he was never booked to be at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas.

“There are a lot of rumors going around that I was supposed to be booked for Wrestlemania 38, which is not true at all,” Angle said. “If you saw the posts, a lot of people thought that I was talking about WrestleMania when I was talking about what I was going to do at the Royal Rumble and have the program for a few weeks. Then the blow off would be in Saudi Arabia, where I would referee the match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.”

Angle said that he is not under contract with WWE. He said, “So I am not signed with WWE by any means. We didn’t cut a deal. That whole program got canceled at the last second. So it never happened. It’s unfortunate, but you know, sometimes they have different plans for these guys. So there’s nothing you can do about it.”

The RK-Bro vs. Alpha Academy ended up not taking place at the Chamber show in Saudi Arabia. Instead, WWE opted to use Riddle in the Men’s Chamber match and Randy Orton was not used on the card.
