Novak Djokovic paid a tribute to the NFL great Tom Brady after the 44-year-old quarterback announced his retirement. Djokovic is one of the greatest players in tennis history, while Brady is one of the greatest players in NFL history.
Many consider Djokovic as the greatest tennis player, while also many believe Brady is the one that should be considered as the greatest NFL player of all time. “Absolute kegend! Thank you for all the inspiration,” Djokovic said on his Instagram story.
Djokovic shared Brady’s post
Brady announced his retirement on Instagram and Djokovic shared that post on his Instagram Story. It is not a surprise that Djokovic is inspired by Brady as the quarterback played at a high level until the last game of his career.
Brady retired at the age off 44 and he won his final Super Bowl last year at the age of 43. Brady retired because he felt he wouldn’t be able to anymore fully commit and dedicate himself to the game. “I have always believed the sport of football is an ‘all-in’ proposition—if a 100% competitive commitment isn’t there, you won’t succeed, and success is what I love so much about our game,” Brady wrote in a statement.
“There is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge EVERY single day that has allowed me to maximize my highest potential. And I have tried my very best these past 22 years. There are no shortcuts to success on the field or in life.
“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention”.
Meanwhile, Djokovic is preparing to start his season in Dubai. Djokovic will be chasing a sixth Dubai title when the tournaments kicks off in less than two weeks.
