Former world No. 6 Chanda Rubin says Serena Williams is still keen on learning new things and that’s the thing that amazes her about the former world No. 1. Williams, 40, hasn’t played since Wimbledon but she is still hoping to make a comeback and potentially win her 24th Grand Slam title.

“I recently had the opportunity to spend, you know, six weeks with her and getting the little text. ‘Hey, come over and watch some film’ and it might sound weird. But, I mean, like, but hey, she’s already done all of this and she’s sitting down watching film with her and she literally breaks it down,” Rubin said, as quoted on Sportskeeda.

“I just, that to me, you know, just all the things that I’ve known, but to where she is now and she still wants to learn. I think, is probably one of those moments that I will always cherish.”

‘Williams wants to win a Grand Slam No.24

Recently, coach Paul Annacone stated Williams hasn’t given up on winning a 24th Major. “Let’s think about it. 23, she’s been on that number of Majors. She doesn’t play another match, it doesn’t matter.

She has done so much. Internally, I think with great players, they got to figure out why they want to keep playing. She is such a competitor. She wants to get that No. 24,” Annacone said on Tennis Channel”. Also, Annacone acknowledged that being out for so long can create problems.

“All those things outside the court for her are great way for her to kind of decompress and hit the reset button for a bit. But, at the end of your career as an athlete, you have to be very careful not to stay too far that way.

Because the longer you go, the longer it is to get back there. I think she and Patrick know exactly what they want to do. There is no reason she can’t continue to play great,” Annacone added.
